What Is the Blues Jam?
The Blues Jam is an open-format, collaborative jam session where musicians of all backgrounds come together to play, practice, improvise, and have fun. There’s no performance pressure, no audition, and no need to be an expert — just show up, plug in, and join the music.
Each session features:
• Rotating groups and open-call jam circles
• Space to practice improvisation and classic blues progressions
• Supportive guidance from experienced local musicians
• Opportunities to learn from others and expand your comfort zone
• A welcoming, sober, all-ages environment aligned with the Boise Hive’s mission
Our focus is on community over perfection. If you’ve ever wanted to try a blues jam but felt intimidated, this is the place for you.
Why we Jam!
The Boise Hive exists to support musicians through creativity, community, and mental wellness. Group music-making can be a powerful outlet — it builds confidence, reduces stress, and fosters meaningful connection.
The Blues Jam is built to:
• Encourage collaboration among local musicians
• Help players develop improvisation and listening skills
• Strengthen the local music community
• Provide an accessible, judgment-free gathering space
When musicians come together, great things happen — new friendships, new bands, new ideas, and a stronger creative community.
If you’ve been looking for a low-pressure jam where you can play the blues, learn something new, and meet other musicians, the Boise Hive Blues Jam is for you. Grab your gear, invite a friend, and come be part of something special.
See you on the first Wednesday of the month!
