Learn Audio Mixing

Learn Audio Mixing - Step behind the mixing console and work with prerecorded and sampled tracks to gain hands-on experience at the Boise Hive. You’ll learn how to balance levels, use EQ and compression, apply reverb and delay, and shape tone and dynamics so every instrument sits well together. The class also covers workflow strategies to save time, organizing sessions with track naming, and ways to avoid “ear fatigue.” You’ll get guidance so you can keep practicing at home with whatever gear you already have.

Mixing

Find out the six basic elements of a mix, how to use processors like equalizers, compressors, gates and effects plugins during mixing to create an ultimate soundfield, learn about usage of proper dynamics and mix a song where all instruments can be heard.

Mastering

Learn techniques for post production to create music levels up to industry standard for the genre you are working in.

Present Your Work

Present your mixed recording projects with peers for constructive feedback and share your work.

Our next Mixing Class will be held over two weekends: May 16 & 17 and May 30 & 31, Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. The November 2025 class is full, but you can sign up now for Spring 2026 and secure your spot!
